Buying a Property Sight-Unseen, Part I

Today we're sharing a guest blog from Deborah Rutter of the Nest Realty Team. Have you every considered buying a home without even laying eyes on it? For most, the idea sounds a little crazy, but for some buyers, it's their only option. Read below to get the scoop on what to do and what not to do if you're buying a property sight-unseen.

Buying a Property Sight-Unseen, Part I
by Deborah Rutter, Nest Realty

WHAT IS A SIGHT-UNSEEN BUYER? AND WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?

“Wait, you bought a house without ever going inside?” It’s a common refrain some of my buyer clients have heard over the years. Most people wouldn’t buy an avocado online, much less a property, but it can be done—and done successfully. With a solid strategy, a trusted agent, and a few pieces of technology, it’s not as daunting as you might imagine. This is the first in a four part series about managing expectations and having a successful purchasing experience…without being on site!

Hurricane Prep Tips for Carolina Beach Residents

hurricane

Almost one year ago to the day, residents in the Carolina Beach area are bracing themselves and their homes for another major hurricane. For some residents who are still recovering from 2018's Hurricane Florence, the thought of Hurricane Dorian moving dangerously close to the Carolinas is nerve-racking, to say the least. At the time of this writing, Dorian is still in the Atlantic hovering over the Bahamas but weather experts anticipate the storm (now a category 2) to reach North Carolina sometime Thursday. Fortunately, the Town of Carolina Beach is already putting emergency operations into effect.

If you are a resident of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach or the surrounding areas, please take official advisories seriously and follow the tips below to stay safe.

Freeman Park Reopens

beach entrance with flip flops

Freeman Park, a popular destination for locals and visitors of the Carolina Beach area, reopened March 27 at 8:00 am for four-wheel drive vehicles and overnight camping.

According to The Island Gazette, the park was closed for a while due to a beach nourishment project in which sand was pumped onto the north end of Carolina Beach. Large pipes were placed along the beach in Freeman Park and pumped sand in from the Carolina Beach Inlet area. In order to protect the integrity of the project and ensure the safety of the community, the park remained closed while the project was underway.
